Michael Schamis, an upper eastside New York sales professional, likes to attend the theater with his wife. A fan of musicals, Michael Schamis makes an effort to see Broadway shows as often as possible.

Through October of 2016, WICKED will command the stage at Gershwin Theatre. The show tells the untold story of the Wicked Witch of the West from The Wizard of Oz. The award-winning production takes audiences back to when the wicked witch first meets Glinda the Good. Developing a strong bond, the two are later divided by the labeling of one as “good” and the other as “wicked.”

Also on Broadway is the new musical Waitress. The cast has performance dates scheduled through January 1, 2017 at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre. Waitress is a stage version of a popular movie of the same name. The musical, under the direction of Diane Paul, features a score by Grammy nominee Sara Bareilles and stars Jessie Mueller as Jenna, an expert pie maker who looks to start a new life away from a loveless marriage. The story of friendship and motherhood is told through Jenna’s pie-making process. Since its launch, the production has received nominations for best musical at multiple award shows.
